In honor of the centenary of the death of the legendary opera composer Giacomo Puccini, the Orquestra Theatro São Pedro prepared the unprecedented operatic show Puccini: his name is love!. The presentation, conducted and artistically directed by maestro Evandro Matté, brings together scenes from the Italian musician’s main creations, in two performances with special participation by the Rio Grande do Sul Opera Company (CORS), which will have soprano Eiko Senda and tenor Lazlo Bonilla. The production, which captures the intensity of the composer’s protagonists’ emotions, will have love as its main theme, a subject that permeates Puccini’s operas, ranging from La Bohème, which touches the heart of Paris’s artistic bohemia, to the story of Madama Butterfly’s deep betrayal, devotion and eternal love.
